The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of the 91 Regular Recruits Intake (91RRI) recruitment exercise for 2026. The online registrations will commence on 30th March 2026 and close on 17th May 2026 for trades and non-tradesmen/women, respectively.

The recruitment exercise is for all qualified Nigerian youths who have a desire to serve the nation and participate in the protection of the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

One important notice to all applicant is that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is absolutely free. The Nigerian Army recruits free of charge, and candidates are strongly advised not to pay money to anyone claiming to offer assistance or guaranteed slots in the recruitment process.

The registration portal for the 91RRI recruitment exercise will run within the following dates:

Nigerian Army 91RRI 2026 Basic Entry Requirements

Applicants must first meet the stated requirements before they can apply for the Nigerian Army recruitment 2026.

First and foremost, every applicant must be a single Nigerian citizen by birth. Candidates are also required to have NIN (National Identification number) and a Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip.

The name and date of birth on the NIN must be the same as on the BVN and every other credential submitted. This will be done during screening, and any discrepancy in names, age, or personal details is a no-go.

Applicants must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit to Nigerian Army standards. Applicants may not have any criminal record at any court of competent jurisdiction.

In terms of educational qualifications, applicants should have not more than two sittings with a minimum of four credits, including English Language, in any of the following examinations:

Applicants applying as tradesmen or tradeswomen must also have a Trade Test Certificate or City and Guild Certificate in addition to academic requirements.

Candidates must also provide a valid birth certificate from the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government council. An age declaration approved by a competent court is also acceptable.

Age and Height Requirements

Age requirements for Nigerian Army applicants are clearly defined.

Non-tradesmen and women: 18 – 22 years Tradesmen and women: not above 26 years as at 30th June 2026

There are also minimum height regulations:

Male applicants: not less than 1.68 metres Females applicants: not less than 1.65 metres

Applicants are expected to apply with their State of Origin and not with their state of residence. Also, there is a requirement to present a valid Certificate of State of Origin.

After accessing the portal, applicants are first required to;

Fill in the online application form Submit the form online Print out the application slip (after filling in the form). Print the guarantor form and fill it out correctly;

All the documents submitted will be verified with the relevant issuing authorities.

Candidates with fake or forged documents will be handed over to the police for prosecution.

Important Instructions for Applicants

Applicants are advised to keenly observe the following instructions;

There is to be no pre-selection Computer Based Test (CBT) There is not any special recruitment centre Screening will hold in the candidates’ respective states of origin.

Tattoos, body inscriptions and piercings are banned except for tribal marks. Multiple ear piercings are not allowed on female candidates.

Original copies of all credentials need to be presented. Candidates should not belong to any cult group.

Any candidate who is found to have forged documents shall be withdrawn from the training.

Candidates must come with their NIN slip and other necessary documents.

Candidates are advised not to give any form of gratification to any person throughout the process.
